Mr and Mrs...

Following a real-life five year engagement, my brother and his beautiful wife finally tied the knot this weekend. I love weddings and have fully enjoyed attending my cousins' and close family friends' special day in the past, but nothing could have prepared me for the overwhelming sense of pride and sheer happiness in seeing my eldest brother (and best friend) marry the love of his life. It was the most magical day from beginning to end. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful, loving family #lovelovelove.

Of course - in true blogger fashion - I took a few snaps of what I wore on the day amongst the beautiful grounds of the venue...

My SLR had been set up ready to record the speeches, so I had to use my iPhone for these pictures - luckily it was a lovely sunny day so the quality isn't too bad! From the flower girls (their two daughters) wearing converse to the Super Mario and Princess Peach cake toppers to the tv series-themed table names, the whole day was completely them - and it was brilliant.

To the happy couple <3

Nail Porn by Sophy Robson

For the first 21 and a half years of my life I am ashamed to admit I was a nail biter. I hated it, but even that nasty Stop And Grow stuff and my mum's constant discerning facts (eg. "Did you know you have more germs under your nails than there is in a toilet? And you're putting them in your mouth" etc., etc.), I still couldn't break my habit. While I was at uni it got worse thanks to long, boring, stressful days in the library.

BUT that's all in the past now. I don't know how it happened, but for the last three months or so I've had the long nails that I was always jealous of my friends for. I'd like to have some miracle story to share with fellow nail biting addicts, but really, I stopped without even realising. Soz! But that does mean that I can post pretty pictures of nail art, such as this quirky leopard print design.

I'd love to say I painted this myself, but that would be a massive fib. I'm about as rubbish at painting nails as I am at deciphering Shakespeare (SparkNotes, anyone??). This design was painted by nail artist extraordinaire and founder of Nail Porn, Sophy Robson. While I was interning at Handbag.com I had the opportunity to meet Sophy and have a chat over a carton of coconut water while my nails got the full Nail Porn treatment. They look amazing, non? She was so interesting to chat to - she'd painted Rihanna's nails the day before painting mine! *dies*. Check out Sophy's amazing work at SophyRobson.com.

I'm writing this post from the blogger app on my phone - very convenient and quick, but if it looks odd then that's why!

Nails of the Day

After a bit of an accidental hiatus (my laptop broke and I didn't know the password to the server I upload photos to), I'm finally back to blogging again. Woo! So I've accumulated a load of photos of beauty products over the last month (and a bit), so I'm going to start making my way through those.

I'll start of with saying I am absolutely OBSESSED with painting my nails at the moment. If my nails haven't got a light-reflecting shine in a really lush or sparkly colour, then I'm not happy. Initially I really loved the sparkly, iridescent purple/blue colour from MO's Splash collection (more widely referred to as 'Mermaid Tears'). I then picked 'Grape Fruit' from the Fruit Pastel collection to go with it (smells like grapes!). Grape Fruit is ok, but Mermaid Tears is a bit disappointing. I'll admit I'm not the most steady handed in the art of nails. However, even I will defend my almost-non-existent nail painting skills against the mess this varnish made. It spreads unevenly, the sparkly bits don't dry flat and it is (somehow) partial to air bubbles. Bummer - especially considering these varnishes are £5 a pop.

It looks so pretty in the bottle though...

What do you think? Have you had problems with the Splash collection? Or is it just my rubbish painting skills (it's not)?
