Shine Bright

Yesterday an interesting email popped up in my inbox from Lauren of Arena Media inviting me to take part in a little styling competition run by Jenny Craig. The brief: concoct an outfit for the festive season centered around your perfect LBD. This was pretty easy for me because, although I'm going to be away for Christmas and New Year (and I'm not really sure what my plans are for either days), I have still spent a considerable amount of time envisaging the outfit I would be wearing if I were to roll up outside some swanky London club this December 31st.

I immediately knew it would be THIS dress. I have been loving this dress from afar ever since I saw it on the 'what's new' page. The loose fit is complimented by it's teeny weeny length; I think a loose, short dress that puts long legs on full display is much more flattering than a plunging neckline or a so-tight-I-can-see-your-pantyline bodycon. And look at that racer back. There's no way you're getting away with a bra under this number. The dress of course needs to be accompanied by massive heels because...well, just because and this chunky pair from Office are perfect. I would accentuate the daintiness of the ankle strap with the frilly socks so the chunkiness isn't too...chunky. I've chosen understated gold/cream jewellery to keep the focus on the dress - but can we just take a minute to appreciate the Marc Jacobs bangles? Ahhh. If you don't fancy forking out £60 for one, then check out the replicas on eBay (via Victoria) which are really pretty and a fraction of the price. The hair needs to be in a sleek updo to show off the back of the dress, but it needs to be BIG. The bigger, the better.

So there we have it! Although I'm very excited to be going away on Friday (I'm spending Christmas with family in Colombia), I do feel kind of sad that I won't be wearing this outfit come New Years. What are your plans for NYE (is it too early to be asking that? Haven't even had Christmas yet!) x

ps. IT'S MY BIRTHDAY TODAY! #happybirthdaytome

Dear Father Christmas...

I can't believe I didn't blog for the whole of November! I have been completely inundated with uni deadlines and I literally cannot wait to finish for Christmas now! Just 11 days, two exams and one more essay before I can chillll outtttt.

I've given myself the evening off and spent some time compiling a little wishlist whilst hugging my hot water bottle and munching a Terry's Chocolate Orange. My family aren't doing Christmas presents this year because we're going on holiday to spend Christmas and New Year with our family in Colombia instead - and it's going to be warmmmm! However, it is my birthday this month so there is still need for a wishlist.

1. I have absolutely fallen in love with both these pairs of boots; I love the cut out detail and buckles on the Adonis2, but the chunky heels on the Abyss are sooo nice! I think I slightly prefer the Adonis because the heel isn't as high, and at 5'10 you have to be careful when it comes to daytime footwear! Ahhh they're so, so nice!

2. I spent a lot of time considering both the Naked and Naked2 Urban Decay palettes this morning (when I was in the library). After texting my best friend, she linked me to this website which compares both palettes and helped me decide that I absolutely NEED the original Naked Palette #plzplzplzplz

3. I've read really great reviews of the Sigma F80 Kabuki brush on a few beauty blogs now and it seems to give great results. Need!

4. I've suppressed my love for Black Milk leggings for the longest time now, but these Galaxy Rainbow Leggings are out of this world (ahah-ahah). The print is actually taken from NASA photographs of Orion Nebula, situated south of Orion's Belt k HOW COOL IS THAT?! </geek>.

5. Finally, the Mulberry Daria Pouch which is soooooo cute! There is absolutely zero chance of me getting this purse, but I've liked it for a long time so I thought I'd include it!

What are you hoping for this Christmas? Don't forget to link your wishlists in your comment! x

Biker Boots

one.two.three

I've long been a fan of biker boots, and now that my military boots have been well and truly ruined (my dad decided they needed a bit of polish and completely undid the hard worked for 'worn-in' look I had) I've been looking around at what the highstreet currently has on offer. Besides, I think a military jacket, camo top and military boots would be a tad over the top anyway! I love how these girls from Lookbook toughen up girly outfits with biker boots and leather jackets - I especially love the studs! Daisy Street is full of studded footwear at the moment, and these boots are no exception; the stud and buckle detailing make these my absolute favourite of the three and they certainly rival the now sold out Matalan version (which I had my heart set on before *sob*). However, with winter fast approaching, the Marlo boots from Topshop are appealing with their faux-fur lining. Finally, I really like the wooden heel on the Dorothy Perkins pair, plus they have a bit of stud detailing too.

In reality I can't afford any of these (despite them being about £40 cheaper than everywhere else!) because I bought the coat I posted about last week with the Topshop 20% student discount. Maybe next month...at least I'll be warm though!
Which boots are you favourite? x
PS. Somewhere between my last post and now I reached 100 followers! Yay! I want to do a giveaway at some point to say thank you...funds permitting! It might be a little late though...

Winter Coat Love

As I sit here looking out the window at the God-awful weather that has encompassed us today, I'm forced to accept that summer is well and truly over. There's no point in trying to frantically cling on to the surprisingly warm weather we've had in the last week or so. It's gone. Now, I do like Autumn; after a couple of months of donning shorts and vests, I'm more than ready to embrace the layering and the lovely tan and khaki colours that Autumn has to offer. However, it seems that as soon as we're settled into our Autumn wardrobes and got the hang of it all again, Winter rears its ugly, unwelcome head. There is nothing I hate more in this world than being cold (even spiders come second place to frosty, rainy mornings). Winter literally makes me want to cry and I am absolutely convinced that the only reason Christmas exists is as compensation for the harsh winter months and to stop people losing the will to live.

Winter Harmony

I've been preparing myself for the inevitable frost with two of my favourite and most trusted fashion databases: Polyvore and LookBook. I love the nude tones of this winter set from Polyvore and I loooove the boyfriend style coats of the LookBooks, especially the Romwe one in the first look (unfortunately no longer in stock, of course). I had a little browse through my favourite highstreet online stores and found this from Topshop. This nude boyfriend fit coat is a beautiful combination of both the Poly and the LookBooks and the jersey lining adds that much more warmth to it. It's sooooo perfect <3 #lovelovelove

I tried convincing my boyfriend to buy this for me because I quite simply need it to surivive the winter (both warmth-wise and fashion-wise), but unfortunately he simply suggested that I make more use of the faux fur leopard print from Zara that I also needed last year...

Ahhh someone buy me this! What coats have you got your eye on for this winter? x

Flatform Feeling

I don't make any secret of the fact that I love flatforms. My first pair were the fiesty leopard print ones from Jeffrey Campbell, and I've been looking to expand my collection ever since. Here is a collection of my favourites on the highstreet at the moment, the River Island ones are top of my list in that gorgeous blue colour, and they're only £20 which is pretty good for River Island! I also really like the hightops from Topshop...decisions, decisions!

What do you think of flatforms? I don't like the crazy-thick soled ones, but I'm a massive fan! x

I'm Going on a Summer Holiday...

This year I'm taking a little visit to Gatwick airport not once, not twice, but three times! Aside from the delights of queuing up at the check-in desk, getting fondled by the woman at security, and getting frustratingly tempted by duty-free, this also means I get to go on holiday. Three times! Woo! For the past three years my holiday-fund has been consumed by (supposedly) romantic holidays with Boyfriend, but this year is different. Boyfriend is being moved into the 'family holiday' category, and I'm trading in sunset dinners on the beach for one-euro cocktails and French waiters with one of my best friends. Exciting! Then in August I will be packing for a family-and-boyfriend holiday to my home away from home in España, and Christmas and New Year will be spent with family in South America.

Not only does that mean a collective thirty-two hours spent at 30,000 ft, it also means major bikini obsession. Major. I literally cannot stop buying/lusting after bikinis. The ones I fell in love with, bought, and proceeded to wear all but once last year have now been deposited in my 'meh' box at the back of my wardrobe. Pastel, floral, aztec, and neon strips of elastane - GET IN MY SHOPPING BASKET!

I've picked out some of my favourites here. I've actually already bought the pastel one from River Island. I also really love high waisted bikinis, but they would leave you with some...interesting tan lines!
Have you got a holiday to look forward to this summer? Where are you off to? x
